Imagination and the courage to try new approaches are traits strongly fostered at Tristar. The team provides an effective mix of knowledge, competence and a progressive attitude. The company has a history of solving difficult machining and fabricating jobs through new designs and manufacturing processes. We welcome challenges; they create in their wake the employees’ feelings of satisfaction with a job well done. Tristar’s management is very proud of the high level of competence and enthusiasm displayed by all of our employees. Cooperation has been a significant factor in the company’s growth and our employees are happy to progress with the team. People at Tristar enjoy their work, the variety, the challenge and the good feeling of being on a winning ream.
The first step: a good Engineering Department It is the job of our engineering department to measure and identify the part or parts to be machined. This is done by infield sketches, measurements and collection of engineering information or by supplied manufacturers' drawings and specifications. Metallurgical tests are performed. Patterns and drawings are produced to ensure exact duplication of replaced parts. Tristar's engineering manager supervises this very important first step of manufacturing.
The Fabrication Shop This department features the company’s master builders. If it’s metal, if it needs to be cut and welded, our Fabrication Shop employees will do it. Most of the work done involves stainless steel and special alloys which require a variety of welding processes. Much of the work is for the pulp and paper industry. Washer cylinders, decker molds, KX 400 screen rotors, sirocco fans, knotter baskets are routine fabrication jobs. Our people in fabrication like challenges. They are selected for their metallurgical knowledge and fabrication skills. Their capability to handle unusual jobs brings many repeat orders for Tristar.
The Machine Shop From the groundwood to the finishing room, Tristar's precision machining has solved many problems. Our skilled and experienced tradesmen and technicians produce parts to the tightest tolerances and finishes. Couch rolls, suction rolls, felt rolls, dryer rolls, calendar stacks, digester system parts and many other paper machine parts have been supplied or reconditioned.
The Assembly Department
Here all the precision machined and inspected parts of an assembly are fitted together. Shafts turn smoothly in their bearings to tolerances of less than one thousandth of an inch; gears are made to mesh properly and huge balancing machines eliminate vibrations. Everything is done to ensure long and trouble free performance in the field. The personnel in assembly find great variety in their work. Head boxes, feed screws, pulp and paper machine rolls, grinder assemblies, beaters and liquor pumps are a few of the many manufacturing jobs provided by pulp and paper: There are large babbitt bearings for ball and rod mills, heavy duty reduction gear boxes, a great many pumps for all industries, long propeller shafts and veneer lathes. Accuracy is the keyword here and the ambition to make the rebuild last longer than the original! The Metallizing Department The Metallizing Department provides protection and coatings for Pulp and Paper Industries, Petrochemical, Chemical, Marine, Mining and Electro-Industrial applications. |
