Tristar takes a leadership role in pursuing community and academic institution involvement. Pictured at left are some of the University of British Columbia Department of Mechanical Engineering team members Tristar is proud to be associated with. Our track record in working with UBC speaks for itself — read our Washer Drum Patent story for one example. "The people who were involved in this project, including our students, received the kind of experience and training that is of vital importance to Canadian industry," said Dr. Mohamed S. Gadala, pictured centre above. "They applied their knowledge, computer simulation and experimentation techniques to a very practical but challenging problem. And what's more, they solved it."
Tristar also works with the British Columbia Institute of Technology. In addition to local community endeavours, we have supported a variety of distant programs, such as Ontario's Espanola Community Centre, New Zealand's Kawerau Town Associated Football & Sports Club Inc, among others. Community spirit is strong on our team.
Tristar also supports younger students. Here is an example: a letter to our Operations Manager from a local Secondary School.
"On behalf of North Delta Senior Secondary and specifically the Computer Aided Drafting Department I would like to express my appreciation for the support, guidance and encouragement demonstrated by the Engineering and Quality Assurance department at Tristar. For more than a decade your company has provided valuable work experience to a great number of students from our Computer Aided Drafting Career Preparation Program. The students' three week session of work experience is extremely valuable to the students. Your company has made the students feel welcome, provided them with "real life" projects, have given them responsibility and have treated them with respect. This has allowed the students to develop confidence in themselves making them better prepared for the work force. I feel that the opportunities presented to the students during their work experience session is one of the most meaningful experiences in their education. The benefits are many. You company has been instrumental in facilitating their endeavors and we are most appreciative." E.R.
